AmeriCorps

LISC Jacksonville in conjunction with the Corporation for National Service sponsors an AmeriCorps program for local community development corporations that allow them to add staff capacity while training a new group of people for work in the nonprofit sector.

The LISC Jacksonville AmeriCorps program starts in September and AmeriCorps members are assigned to work with local CDCs.  Their duties can be varied and may include community outreach, marketing activities, community building activities and to provide counsel to potential community residents on family financial matters,.

Prospective applicants should have a minimum high school diploma or equivalent, some volunteer experience and possess excellent communication, computer and interpersonal skills.  They are offered a modest living stipend of $18,000 for one year of service, basic health insurance and an education award of $4,725 upon completion of service.
