LISC Jacksonville - Helping Neighbors Build Communities
LISC Jacksonville - Neighborhoods

Ability Housing of Northeast Florida is dedicated to providing safe, quality attainable housing for low-income individuals with developmental or acquired disabilities.  Ability Housing of Northeast Florida’s groundbreaking model has been to purchase or build quality homes in safe residential neighborhoods within walking distance to shopping and then rents them for approximately $200 to $225 a month plus utilities.  Ability Housing of Northeast Florida uses interest-free forgivable loans from the Duval County Housing Finance Authority and the Housing Services Division of the City of Jacksonville, demonstration loans from Florida Housing Finance Corporation as well as area banks.  The Florida Development Disability Council has designated Ability Housing of Northeast Florida as a state demonstration project.

Ability Housing of Northeast Florida is now partnering with other agencies to develop apartment complexes with a mixture of income levels and a percentage set aside for adults with a disability, knowing their clients will have a better quality of life living inclusively within the greater community instead of living apart in an exclusive community.
